| Why Saddam is Evil | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The fact that Saddam Hussein is probably the most evil man alive is the main reason why I feel that the US should go to war with Iraq. The one hippy I know claims that war is not the answer, and that they should talk to Saddam and come to some kind of agreement, essentually echoing Einstein's quote that "Peace cannot be acheived through war, only understanding" (or something like that). This logic I would normally not argue with, I'm not a savage, I understand the concept of peace. But quite frankly, she wants to talk reason to an unreasonable man. She wants to call up a man who has lauched chemical weapons at an unarmed (Iraqi) civilian city and discuss peace with him. She wants to discuss peace with a man that has commited haneous war crimes; it would simply be useless. It's like calling up Hitler during WW2 and asking him to please stop invading Europe and killing Jews. (At this point I feel like mentioning that Saddam had all the Iraqi Jews killed) Peace with Saddam is simply not an option. The man should have been trialled for his crimes years ago... MANY years ago. He should have been executed for them. The chemical weapons he lauched on Halabja killed about 5000 civilians. The campaign that he lauched to commit genocide, the one that included the attack on Halabja, killed between 50 000 and 100 000. He should have been executed then. That was in 1988.
