Government  

•     There was a system for collecting taxes and food supplies

•     The people worked on the public works

•     People were paid for their work

•     The people were free to move to anywhere in the empire

•     The money from the empire lands were divided into four parts, one paid for hospitals, another was the salary of officers and officials, the third for religious groups and the last as rewards for artists, scholars and writers.

•     Hospitals were built in the larger cities and free health care was provided for people

Law 

•     No criminal was put to death

•     Criminals were only fined

•     Laws were fair and just

Defense

•     Military squads protected the villages

•     Each squad consisted of an elephant, a chariot, three armored cavalry and five foot soldiers

•    In times of war, the many squads were brought together to form the royal army
