| How glaciers affect the environment |
| Tourism is bad for the environment. The fauna can be scared away by the traffic, both the helicopters and the coaches. When lots of people are walking or skiing in the same place it can erode the land and can also cause avalanches, destroying to flora and fauna in a wide area. Visual pollution is also a large factor and can be very unsightly to the visitors and of course, the locals who have to put up with all this. The main problem is the ski lifts which, especially in the low season, can look awful. |
