A MOTHER'S LOVE A mother's love is like an island in life's ocean vast and wide- A peaceful, quiet shelter from the restless, rising tide. A mother's love is like a fortress, and we seek protection there When the waves of tribulation seem to drown us in despair. A mother's love is a sanctuary where our souls can find sweet rest From the struggle and the tension of life's fast and futile quest. A mother's love is like a tower rising far above the crowd, And her smile is like the sunshine breaking through a threatening cloud. A mother's love is like a beacon burning bright with faith and prayer, And through the changing scenes of life we can find a haven there. For a mother's life is fashioned after God's enduring love- It is endless and unfailing like the love of Him above. For God knew he couldn't be everywhere, So He put His little children in a loving mother's care. by: Helen Steiner Rice |

| YOU KNOW YOU'RE REALLY A MOM WHEN..... You count the number of sprinkles on each kid's cupcake to make sure they are equal. You want to take out a contract on the kid who broke your child's favorite toy and made him/her cry. You have time to shave only one leg at at time. You hide in the bathroom to be alone Your child throws up and you catch it Someone else's kid throws up at a party and you keep eating You consider finger paint to be a controlled substance You mastered the art of placing food on a plate without anything touching Your child insists that you read "Once Upon a Potty" out loud in the lobby of the doctor's office and you do it You hire a baby sitter because you haven't been out with your husband in ages, then you spend half the night talking about and checking on the kids You hope ketchup is a vegetable because it's the only one your child eats You find yourself cutting your husband's sandwiches into unusual shapes You fast-forward through the scene when the hunter shoots Bambi's mother You obsess when your child clings to you upon parting during his first month at school, then you obsess when he skips in without looking back. You can't bear to give away baby clothes--it's so final You hear your mother's voice coming out of your mouth when you say , "Not in your good clothes" You stop criticizing the way your mother raised you You read that the average-five-year old asks 437 questions a day and feel proud that your kid is "above average" You say at least once a day "I'm not cut out for this job," but you know you wouldn't trade it for anything |

How To Recognize A Good Woman A good woman is proud. She respects herself and others. She is aware of who she is. She neither seeks definition from the person she is with, nor does she expect them to read her mind. She is quite capable of articulating her needs. A good woman is hopeful. She is strong enough to make all her dreams come true. She knows love, therefore she gives love. She recognizes that her love has great value and must be reciprocated. If her love is taken for granted, it soon disappears. A good woman has a dash of inspiration and a dabble of endurance. She knows that she will at times have to inspire others to reach the potential God gave them. A good woman knows her past, understands her present and forces toward the future. A good woman knows God. She knows that with God the world is her playground, but without God she will just be played with. A good woman does not live in fear of the future because of her past. Instead, she understands that her life experiences are merely lessons meant to bring her closer to self-knowledge and unconditional self-love... |

Life with Mom 1 year Mama. 4 years I want my Mamma. 7 years I need to ask my mommy first. 12 years My Mother is so uncool. 17 years Naturally Mother doesn't understand. 21 years Mom is so out of touch - What would you expect? 30 years A little patience....Maybe Mom will have a good idea. 35 years I'll call Mom and see what she thinks about it. Mom is really a lot of help. 40 years Maybe Mom and I could do that together. 50 years I wonder what Mom would have thought about it. 60 years I wish I could talk it over with Mom once more. |

God took the fragrance of a flower, The majesty of a tree, The gentleness of morning dew, The calm of a quiet sea, The beauty of a twilight hour, The soul of a starry night The laughter of the rippling brook, The grace of a bird in flight, Then God fashioned from these things A creation like no other, And when His masterpiece was through, He called it simply...MOTHER. |

MY MOTHER God molded you from finest clay And sent you from above, And that is how I came to have The gift of life and love. You showed me how my erring feet Should tread the path of life, That was so new, so strange to me, So filled with unknown strife. And when I stumbled on my way 'Twas you who helped me up, And bade me on, and gave me strength To drink the most bitter cup. You taught me how to worship God, And pointed out the way, But greatest gift of all, my dear, You taught me how to pray. And now upon my knees I bend As you have taught me to, And bow before the heavenly throne To thank my God for you. |
