Traveling Companions
Soon you will leave the comfort of our ordinary lives, And the serenity of our extraordinary friendship;
But I’ll remember: ...the rose placed in the darkness. ...our clandestine moments. ...the fantasies we shared. ...the ones we disposed of as well as the ones we nourished that bloomed. ...each adventure, no matter the distance.
I’ll remember: ...putting glowers in your hair. ...pitching horseshoes. ...all the laughter which led to tears you wiped away.
But now when the rain comes to my eyes you cannot end the torrents. To do that would crush your dreams. That is a sacrifice I would not ask you to make - I would not expect. You always supported me. Now it is my turn.
But I will always remember, You - whose heart I hold, For I can feel your arms enfolding mine.
