Most of my clients do not know the name of the technique or modality of massage; however, most clients know what they want to accomplish during the massage. It is something you should think about before your appointment. My many repeat clients often change their minds depending on their mood or what they have to do after the massage. For example, you may not want to feel so relaxed that you could not play tennis or give a speech. Other clients may have back and leg pain because they just got off of a long flight. You may have just received a gift certificate and you want to be pampered. Your needs are best discussed with your massage therapist before beginning your massage. You should also discuss any medical conditions, accidents, or surgical procedures you may have recently had.

The more massage you receive, the more aware of your body you become. The more educated your palette will be. So - don't worry about the name of the massage - just think about what your body would like at the moment of your massage.
