Chapter 2

Mark followed everybody else in the fourth car. He managed to get way behind everybody else while they were on the motorway. He forgot to take his map with him, which was still next to the kitchen sink in his house. He tried phoning everybody else on his mobile but nobody seemed to be answering their phones. The motorway was coming to an end and was branching off to two different motorways. The two left lanes were going to the north while the two right lanes were going to the south. Mark got the car onto the first lane on the left thinking it was the right lane. The motorway separated and it was just the two lanes for five minutes until they separated for the two motorways. Mark stayed in his lane and when they reached the motorway he got off at the first Welcome Break. "I don't think we are on the right motorway," said Kian.
"Neither do I," admitted Mark.
"So we're lost?" Cherie asked almost screaming.
"How did you lose everybody else?" asked Claire.
"I don't know. The last think I saw of them, they were getting into the middle lane. I couldn't get into it. By the time I did I couldn't see them anymore," said Mark.

Everyone else had gotten to the Lake District and checked themselves in. They booked it so that there were only two people in each lodge except for Hollie, Shane and Donna who will share. "Mark hasn't shown up yet," Daniel said as he walked from the car park to reception where everyone was getting their keys.
"Where is he? Has anyone tried his mobile?" asked Jamie.
"It's switched off," said Mira as she took her phone away from her ear.
"So is everybody else's," said Donna.
"They'll make it here eventually," said Jai. "Let's go and unpack. We'll meet in the main bar in an hour. Maybe one of their phones will be switched on then." Everyone proceeded to their cabins.

Mark went into the shop to buy a map. He took it out to the car for everybody to see. While he was in the shop Kian went to look at the sign next to the exit onto the motorway. "We went in the wrong lane," Kian said coming back. "We are going in the opposite direction to where we want to go."
"So we're lost!" exclaimed Cherie.
"I wouldn't call it lost," said Kian.
"More. Um. More on the lines of going the wrong way," added Mark.
"But we don't know how to get back," said Claire.
"True," said Mark.
"So in theory, we are lost," said Claire.
"We are not lost!" argued Kian.
"Why do men have so much trouble admitting it?" Cherie asked Claire.
"Let's just find a route back," said Kian taking the map. After an hour they managed to mark out a route.
"Hopefully, we will be there by 10pm," said Kian.

"Hello?" Cherie asked answering her mobile.
"Where are you?" cried Emily down the phone.
"We got a bit lost," said Cherie. Emily could make out Kian saying: "We did not get lost!" in the background. "We are on our way. We should be there before ten," she added.
"It's been a long day so everyone is going to bed about 9:30. We'll see you in the morning then," said Emily.
"Ok. Bye!"
Emily put the phone down. "They got a bit lost. They will be here later."
"At least they are ok," said Hollie.

The next morning half the group were going to go abseiling. Anna wasn't going because she was afraid of heights. Nicky wanted to keep her company and spend as much time with her as he could before he went back to work. Shane and Donna didn't go either. They just didn't want to. Everybody else went into the training centre for their two-hour training before they got to do the real thing. Anna and Nicky decided to go to a walk along the beach then have a picnic after. "It's been a long time since we've been alone together," said Nicky finding Anna's hand with his. It was a really warm day and he could feel the sun burning his neck. There was a slight breeze in the air, which cooled things down a little bit.
"I really miss that," said Anna. "But you can't help it. It's your job."
"That's one of the reasons why I love you. Your so understanding." Both of them stop walking and turn to look at each other. Nicky picks up Anna's other hand. "I love you too," she replied.
"Anna, I want to ask you something," he said reaching into his pocket. He pulls his hand out again with a puzzled look on his face. "Can I ask you later?"
"Ok," said Anna, feeling confused.
"I love you loads," Nicky said then wrapped his arms around her to pull her in for a kiss.

Donna and Shane stayed in their cabin and played cards. Both of them had started on the drink. Both having had two cans each already. "I'm bored. What do you want to do now," Donna asked Shane putting her hand on his thigh. This mad Shane feel a little bit uncomfortable.
"I don't know," he replied.
Donna pushed him down onto the couch so that he was laying on his back and leaned over him. "I have an idea." Donna started kissing him and Shane made no attempt to push her off. He unbuttoned her shirt while she unzipped his trousers and started to pull them off.
