The Nubian according to the ADGA breed standards... is a relatively large, proud, and graceful dairy goat of mixed Asian, African, and European origin, known for high quality, high butterfat, milk production. The head is the distinctive breed characteristic, with the facial profile between the eyes and the muzzle being strongly convex. The ears are long (extending at least one inch [2.54 cm] beyond the muzzle when held flat along the face), wide and pendulous. They lie close to the head at the temple and flare slightly out and well forward at the rounded tip, forming a "bell" shape. The ears are not thick, with the cartilage well defined. The hair is short, fine and glossy. Any color or colors, solid or patterned, is acceptable. The Saanen according to the ADGA standards... is a dairy goat that originated in Switzerland. It is medium to large in size with rugged bone and plenty of vigor. Does should be feminine, however, and not coarse. Saanen are white or light cream in color, with white preferred. Spots on the skin are not discriminated against. Small spots of color on the hair are allowable, but not desirable. The hair should be short and fine, although a fringe over the spine and thighs is often present. Ears should be erect and alertly carried, preferably pointing forward. The face should be straight or dished. A tendency toward a Roman nose is discriminated against. |
Thanks for your interest in our small herd of Nubians.. We are growing by leaps & bounds!! We currently have around 25 goats, with a few of those up for sale. ~~~ We are only 7 years into raising Dairy Goats (9 years into goats) We started out with the "rescue" of GINX and soon learned that goats are very lovable animals, each with a personality all their own. We soon acquired a Nubian/Saanen (Snubian) doe and an American Saanen doe.. As time went on we came to love the Nubian's personality and ohh those ears!! So here we are.....2007 ~~~ * We had a great show season in 2003 with several wins: *Cynamon placed: 1st - Jr Doe (Dairy - 12-24 Months) She also got Champion Jr. Doe Jeni placed 1st in Showmanship *Blaze placed: 1st - (Dairy Buck - 8-9 Months) He also got Champion Dairy Buck Bud placed 3rd in showmanship *Jade showed Lily & placed 1st in showmanship (underage competition) ~~~ * We registered our herd name (WILLOW*BLU) and had our first kids born under that name..in 2003 ~~~ * We had a very successful 2003, 2004, & 2005 breeding season and bred our 2004 yearling does for Spring 2006 kids. We used Blaze as our main herd sire for 2006 and plan to breed Ben to Blaze's daughters in 2007! ~~~ * 2005*We added on to our herd by bringing in 4 more Nubian does from JUST4GOATS - One has kidded so far giving us triplets - 2 of which lived and are growing like weeds. ~~~ *2006* This was a sad, rough year all around..with alot of human & goat losses & lessons learned.. We used Blaze as our main herdsire & early in the kidding season went great with the births of MoonShine & Jynger who are both being retained in our herd. ~~~ *2007* Early in the season (January) brought the circle back around...giving us a DOE season..with plenty to go around...so we swapped a doe & a buck & added Narrow Chance Mack to our herd & plan on using him quite a bit. We will be using Blaze again on a select few..We got several sets of triplets just this season from him..& lots of does..hopefuly he'll do us right again in 2008! We will also be using Ben & Bigshot for the first time..can't wait to see what they do for us! So feel free to check out our Goats and their bloodlines and don't hesitate to contact us if you need more info on any of them!! |
