This is Auburn Sky..

We've been told that she is a 17 or 18 yr old  Quarter horse..who lived on a farm somewhere..The notch cut out of her right ear tells that tale..Supposedly old poor farmers cut notches in their animals ears as a brand staking claim to them.. :O(

I found her in an online horse classified site...I wrote
to the people who temporarily housed her and they sent pics..We all liked her so much that we drove out to see her and decided to bring her home.

We adopted her from the SPCA in Mobile,AL on April 14th, 2002. They found her in November 2001 half starved wondering around in a field in Mobile. And never knew who she belonged to..

Sky the very day we got her home..
Pictures of Sky taken by the SPCA when they finally got her to put some weight on..

Sky in Late April 2002...giving Jeni and her sleepover guests a few rides...
Sky meets Daz...
Sadly Sky left this world on February 10, 2003 :O(
We loved that old horse and will miss her so much..
She had many (understandable) bad habits when she came to live with us..
But through lots of lovin' and plenty of attention & her trust in us..
she had gotten so much better with them..and lost many completely..
Each day at feeding time or just passing by the pasture
I shed another tear for her..

These are some of the last pictures taken of Sky...
Just weeks before she died..
I didn't want her to get a chill in our 16 degree cold spell..&
That blanket was all I had to throw over her at the time..
She loved it! She looked great didn't she :O(

Pictures taken the day after Sky went down..2/09/03
It was so sad to see such a large and massive animal
become so weak and fragile and know in our hearts
that there was nothing we could do to make her feel better...
All we could do was be there..so she wouldn't die alone..
She was buried with her blanket & halter...
