| Learning by Ear vs. Learning with Sheet Music As a child I learned the Violin and the French Horn, so I was familiar with reading music when I first took up the whistle. There seems to be an aversion to using sheet music by some traditionalists, as if using abc notation and music is a crutch. In my humble opinion, a balanced approach will help a beginning whistle student achieve the most rapid and satisfying development of their whistle-playing ability. Um, I have more to say on this but I'll have to add it when I have more time...sorry! :) |
