But the people were not listening. Dead silence met these men and their message. Back then, it was still believed that everyones goal should be to get the word out - to educate as many people as possible like some MLM marketing ploy. Everyone in the country would soon hear about it. The mood in the patriot community was energized and upbeat.
Today, things are different. The mood has changed. People have seen years worth of complete and utter failures... nothing has changed. Quite the contrary, it's now a hell of a lot worse. 9/11 did not really alter the playing field (we've had many, MANY terrorist attacks before), it was just that 9/11 was a lot more visible and "hit home" more than an embassy bombing or an attack against one of our military vessels. It was the perfect excuse for the DOD\DOJ to move up their plans and make some light year jumps forward in initiatives that already existed, but were too radical to implement all at once. Now they are being instituted... and are steadily growing in number. Things like HR1955 and the Patriot Acts have passed, and still worse, more are already on the table. The old frog in the boiling water is starting to bubble.
Once energized and enthusiastic freedom loving patriots have seen their efforts ridiculed, chastised, and marginalized. Not just by the media, but their fellow Americans who have a vested interest in the welfare state. Add into the mix 10's of millions of illegal immigrants who don't want any sort of change - they want a job and a handout - and what are we left with? Our population is now over 300 million - the third largest in the world - and growing quickly. Within 40 years this is expected to double. What is it we are still trying to save?
The ground the patirot movement has lost is immeasurable, Personally I believe it is insurmountable, One has only to open the daily paper to see our freedoms slipping away. To see our taxes raised and new ones created, to see our money eroded and decent jobs dwindling away. Groups like the We The People Foundation have seen their efforts quashed by the courts at every turn. There are no longer any legal remedies available to us. The Constitution is of no help since its regarded by the officials as a quaint anachranism. Time and events have surpassed the Constitution, so we're told. And we don't punish them for their blasphemy.
Statistics show that 100,000,000 Americans now live at, or below, the poverty line. Thats 100 MILLION Americans - more people than the total populations of Canada and the UK COMBINED! And yet we're told we're the rich country and can afford all the taxes, expenses, and inflation being heaped upon us. Americans pay DOUBLE the price of sugar and other commodities than the rest of the world because of governemnt subsidies! The ancillary expenses related to adhering to the tax law are greater than the GDP of Canada! Did you know that the savings rate of Americans is a negative number? But our troubles go far beyond simple financial matters. Americans have the worst health of nearly all industrialized nations - but we spend the most on health care. We have one of the absolute lowest life expectancies, the highest infant mortality rates, and some of the lowest test scores in math and science in all the world. The government's solution is to start printing more and more money to throw at the problems causing massive inflation and the loss of OUR purchasing power due to rising prices and higher taxes while the bureaucrats continue to give themselves pay raises at OUR expense.
I remember Waco! I remember the Montana Freemen! I remember Ruby Ridge! I remember 9/11! I remember Irwin Schiff, Larken Rose, Sherry Jackson, and hundreds more innocents being captured, prosecuted and convicted under laws that don't exist! I remember my own 2 years in prison for doing nothing more than calling a Ventura Police officer a thief and robber on a web page over the internet.
Folks, we are being picked off one by one, and they will continue to do so until there are none of us freedom loving Americans left, and we have no defense for it because we are not united. We NEED to combine forces! We NEED to call upon each other and move together to defend ourselves against not just the current tyranny of today, but the coming tyranny that is headed for all America like an unstoppable freight train! Not tomorrow! TODAY! TODAY! TODAY!
