This essay was written to serve as an overview and introduction to Vegetarianism. There are a variety of "styles" of vegetarianism. Here are a few:Veganism (Vegans) - Eat NO animal products of any kind including eggs, dairy, including milk/cheese/milk by-products and derivatives. Some vegans also avoid honey.
Lacto-vegetarians - Eat NO meat including all mammal meat, seafood and shellfish however they do consume dairy products.
Lacto-Ovo Vegetarians - NO meat including mammal meat, seafood and shellfish however they do consume dairy products and eggs.
These are the top three forms of vegetarianism however there are several other forms as well. A few are listed here which could be classified as Semi-Vegetarianism such as:
Peco/Pollo vegetarians - Consume fish possible shellfish. NO other meat.
Lacto-Ovo-Pesco Eat NO mammal meat such as beef, lamb, pork etc. however they do consume seafood, poultry, dairy products and eggs. (It is my opinion that with this one we are getting some distance from the heart of vegetarianism.)
