(Just then Brian and Alexa come in)
Alexa: Girl never do that to us again.
Brian: Yeah we can’t handle two of you guys like this.
Elena: Trust me…if I had a choice this wouldn’t have happened.
Nick: Do you remember what happened?
Elena: Unfortunately. We were in the Hallmark Store looking for things for Kayla and we heard an alarm go off. We thought it was a car alarm and didn’t think anything of it. The next thing we know…there are two guys with masks on demanding the money from the cash register. The one had a gun and the other guy came over to me and Kayla asking for our wallets and jewelry. (Starts to cry) I’m sorry Nick. They took my ring.
Nick: Don’t worry about it. As long as you are fine.
Elena: Kayla wouldn’t give them her ring and she kicked the guy…he got angry and his buddy with the gun shot at us. I didn’t realize I was shot. I was to busy helping Kayla. How is she?
Brian: She was in surgery for awhile, but she’s talking and making jokes.
Alexa: She seems like good ol’ Kayla again.
Nick: She doesn’t remember anything though. She forgot that you were with her.
Elena: Someone should tell her that I’m all right.
Brian: Alexa and I will go.
Alexa: We’ll leave you two lovebirds alone.
Elena: Thanks guys. Tell Kayla that I love her please.
Alexa: Will do Lane. (They leave)
(Brian goes to tell the people in the waiting room what’s up with everyone while Alexa tells Kayla how Elena is)
Alexa: So yeah that’s what happened. Elena seems ok.
Kayla: Good.
Alexa: She wanted me to tell you that she loves you.
Kayla: Oh…(sniff) ouch. Tell her I love her too.
Alexa: Will do. I’ll leave. Love you Kay.
Kayla: Right back at ya.
(Alexa leaves)
Kevin: How are you feeling?
Kayla: Well…the drugs are wearing off…so I’d say blech.
Kevin: Anything I can do?
Kayla: Stay with me.
Kevin: Wild dogs couldn’t drag me away.
Kayla: I don’t think we’ll be walking down the aisle next week.
Kevin: That’s fine with me…just as long as you’re ok…that’s all that matters.
Kayla: I was soo scared Kevin.
Kevin: You were scared? I got a phone call that my fiancé is in the hospital.
Kayla: I thought I would never see you again.
Kevin: Like I said…I’m not going anywhere. I can’t believe you kicked the guy.
Kayla: He was trying to take my ring…or so Alexa said.
Kevin: I could have gotten you another one.
Kayla: But I like this one. Besides…my fingers were swollen…price to pay for being a woman.
Kevin: Kayla? You ok? You look kind of pale.
Kayla: I’m actually pretty tired. You don’t mind if I sleep do you?
Kevin: Not at all. Close those pretty brown eyes.
Kayla: Ok. (Closes her eyes) You know what Kevin?
Kevin: What?
Kayla: I love you.
Kevin: I love you too.
(Kayla falls asleep, Kevin stays with her until she is asleep…then goes to join the gang in the waiting room…just when he gets to the waiting room…nurses and doctors run passed the door)
Nurse1: Code blue in room 412!
Kevin: (in the waiting room) Kayla! (Runs out of the room)
(Everyone soon follows and they all stand by Kayla’s room window to see her surrounded by doctors and nurses trying to resuscitate her.)
