Chapter 6

(Kevin, Kayla, and Ann go over to the gate where Kayla’s parents are supposed to arrive at. When they get there, they see that her parent’s have already arrived.)
Ann: Did they get here early or are we late?
Kevin: (looks at his watch) Nope, they’re early.
Ann: Are you excited to see your parents Kayla? Kayla?
Kayla: (runs over to her dad and gives him a hug) DAD! (turns to her mother) Hi mom. (Gives her a hug)
Carol: It’s about time you got here.
Kayla: (Looks at her dad and whispers to him) It’s starting already. (in full voice) Kevin…Ann…this is my mom Carol and my dad Charlie. Mom…Dad this is Kevin and this is his mom Ann.
Charlie: (shaking Kevin’s hand) Nice to meet you.
Kevin: Nice to meet you too sir.
Charlie: (looks at Kayla) Did he just call me sir?
Kevin: (terrified look on his face)
Kayla: He was taught to be polite to his elder’s dad.
Charlie: Dear boy, you must be mistaken. I’m not a day older than 25.
Kevin: (starts to laugh) I can see where Kayla gets it from.
Carol: Shouldn’t we be going soon.
Charlie: Yes dear.
Kevin: Follow me.
(Kevin leads them to the baggage claim. Kayla and Ann walk behind Kevin, Charlie, and Carol talking)
Ann: Is everything ok with your mother? She seems upset.
Kayla: She doesn’t approve of me being down here away from the family and everything. She thinks that I should be back at home in school.
Ann: Are you happy down here?
Kayla: Yes, of course. I’m happier down here then I ever was up there.
Ann: We’ll talk more about this later. We should catch up with them.
(They get the baggage and are off to Kevin and Kayla’s house. They get settled and realize that it has been a long day and everyone decides to go to bed.)
