(The Next Day) (Kevin and Kayla are making breakfast for the parents. Charlie and Carol come down first. Kayla puts a container of OJ on the table in the dining room) Kayla: Morning mom. Morning dad. Charlie: Morning sprout. Carol: (in a chipper voice) Is that how you are going to put the orange juice out? Kayla: What’s wrong with it? Charlie: I think it’s fine dear. Carol: I think that it would look better in a nice pitcher that’s all. Kayla: Would you like to pick one out for me Mother? Ann: (comes into dining room) Morning all. Carol: Morning Ann. Did you sleep well? (picks up the orange juice and hands it to Kayla and whispers) Put it in a pitcher. Kayla: (huffs off into the kitchen) Kevin: (doesn’t know what just happened in the dining room) What’s wrong? Kayla: What’s wrong is that my mom doesn’t like the way I put the orange juice out so I have to put it into a pitcher and put it BACK out on the table. Kevin: It can’t be that bad. Kayla: Yes it can and it’s gonna get worse before this little visit is over. (Kayla puts the OJ into a pitcher and walks out of the kitchen. Kevin follows behind her with the food) Kevin: Good morning everyone. Ann: Good morning. Charlie: Sup. Carol: What did you just say? Kayla: He needs coffee. I’ll go get it. (Kayla starts to walk off and Carol stops her) Carol: Aren’t you going to see if anyone else wants coffee? Kayla: (stops and turns around) Does anyone else want coffee? Ann: None for me thanks. Carol: No thank you. Kayla: Grrrrrr. (Turns back around and goes into the kitchen) Kevin: So…ummmm…the party is tonight. You will get to see Alexa and Elena tonight. I know you know them. Charlie: Yeah, my other two daughters. Kevin: And you will also get to meet Liz and Sandra. They are two great girls. Carol: So you have a lot of female friends huh? Kevin: (stunned) Uhhhh…not that many. Carol: How many exactly? Kevin: About five…including your daughter. Ann: Excuse me. I’ll be right back. (Ann goes to join Kayla in the kitchen) Kayla: Hi. Is there something you need? Ann: I need you to get out there. I’ll take care of the coffee. Kayla: What she do now? Ann: She’s quizzing him on how many female friends he has. Kayla: We’re gonna be in for a fun day. |
