Truth |
Many people claim to have the one and only truth about Life, the Universe, God, and what we all should be doing to live a life that is full and rich in the Spirit. And these people are most willing to bring you into their fold. They are all wrong. Yet in a way, they are all right…to a degree. No one person or religion has all the answers. Few have more than a handful of questions. We all seek the truth, but what is truth? I define truth as perception of reality or fact. Here is where the squirrels get loose. What is perception? The dictionary defines it as the act or process of perceiving. To perceive is to become aware of or to understand. Simple experiment: Take a 5x8 card and draw an "x" on one side and an "o" on the other. Sit two people down at a table facing each other. Hold the card on the table so each person is looking at one side only. Ask each of them if they know what is on the card. Each person will most likely say yes. Have them write down their answers and give them to you. Now reverse the card. Each of the persons told the truth. It was reality as they saw it. But each was also not telling the truth because they did not see what was on the other side of the card. In truth there is no right and no wrong, but only perception of reality. We must perceive the whole to understand the truth. Understanding but one side of the story has long caused much pain and suffering in the world. Please do not confuse misperception of reality with deceit. Misperception is a lack of information. Deceit requires intent. A willful and dishonest act. Theft, lies, and omission are acts of malice. There have been souls down through history that like Moses, Solomon, and David in waiting to act until they had been well informed. No one person has ever had this power of being all knowing and all seeing except God, and remember; we were given free will by the Creator. We were given the tools to sort out fact from misrepresentation. We must all learn to use them wisely. Next Page |
