About 4 months ago, the regs, old and new, in the current incarnation of our chat room, became faced with a serious dilemna.instead of old friends hanging out, studying, debating and just plain old intellectual chat. A new faction of 'chatters' had arrived on the scene. At first they were few in numbers, so no one paid much attention.
Then came the invasion. All of a sudden young kids with no intellectual contribution to the room began to appear. They would stay on the 'mic' for hours with endless banter, mostly containing little if zero substance. As if this weren't enough to make one go find a second job, along came the booters. These are people who have ZERO intellectual input and couldn't win a debate if the responses were on cue cards for them. So they get their power trip and self pitying satisfaction by trying to disrupt conversation.
The above resulted in an increase in juvenile (age wise as well as mental) presence and a sharp decrease of the rooms more prominent regs.
The whole basis of our chartroom, no matter what the name, started as the "WHY WE DONT BELIEVE IN GOD" ROOM. AND WAS STARTED BY NIBIRUMAN1 ALMOST 3 YEARS AGO. The purpose, to study ancient cultures, societies and religions and how they pertain to the evolution of modern day Christianity. So with the sharp influx of 1)kids who had no idea what we were studying , and 2) booters , who stopped those with opposing views from chatting. (Debating is a sharp motivation for studying as well) the room began to dwindle.
With a few of the old time regs stirring amongst themselves via pm , the levy had to break. So one night, we had all stated, that we had had enough. Hence the 'FUCK ALL PROGRAM' had been initiated.
The 'FUCK ALL PROGRAM', albeit a simple concept has shown to be quite effective. there are 2 vital requirements that MUST be followed in order to be effective.
1) use java or a 3rd party chat client such as yahelite (rendering one unbootable) and equally important to the movement,
2) do not even address the booter/room crasher.
These two steps in conjunction with each other, have not only been RATHER productive in totally filtering out booters, but has given those who wish to further their knowledge of multiple subjects, the precise and comfortable forum in which to do so once again. i not only thank the regs of the room for following the above mentioned protocols, and returning the room to its former state, but I also implore all of you to keep up the valiant effort, in order to maintain our valued forum.
