Who Was I?
A guide to learning about your past lives
The idea of learning about your past lives is a contraversial one indeed.  There are many reasons not to explore the matter.  For example: How would you feel if you found out that your best friend murdered you in a past life? How would that change the way you felt about them? What if you found out things about yourself that made you mad or sad? If you want to explore your past lives I recommend really understanding why you are doing it.  Are you trying to learn more about yourself? Are you trying to make more sense of the world around you and your place in it? Or, do you have strange dreams, blurry memories of someplace you hardly recognize, or have strong affinities for things like Japanese scroll painting or herbal healing, and you want to understand how it all fits together.  Remember: you aren't the only one who remembers.  I do think exploring your past lives is something worth doing if you are ready to accept the consequences of what you may find out.  There are many ways of going about it.  You could go to a psychic or past life regression therapist.  You could try a deep mediation or scrying.  I can give you some pointers and methods here, and you may try them.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to e-mail me at Wiccacentral@yahoo.com.

* Here is a basic ritual meditation that will help you to slip into a state where you will be receptive to memories.  You may want to record your own voice giving the commands, so that you can listen to it, and not have to think about what order the steps should go in.

STEP ONE: Entering a state of deep relaxation.  Lay down someplace comfortable.  Place your hands flat on the ground.  Close your eyes, and try to relax your body in the way that is most comfortable for you.  When making your recording, try to use phrases like: breathe in, sinking down, deeper, waves of relaxation, relaxing, heavy, soothing, feeling of well-being.  The way each person relaxes is very personal, so record whatever you think will work the best for you.

STEP TWO: Picture yourself in your mind.  Not a detailed, fashion-minded you, but a plain astral body.  Visualize yourself standing in a large room where there stands a large mirror.  When you are comfortable and ready, go towards the mirror, and look into it.  Try to visualize yourself 5 years ago.  What were you wearing? How did your hair look? How did you feel?  Then, try to visualize yourself 15 years ago.  Look at your clothes.  Remember the styles? What were you doing then? Visualize you in your High School years.  Notice your clothes.  Notice your hair.  What memories does it stir in you? Go farther still and see yourself on your first day of school.  How are you feeling? How is your family acting? Then, go back even farther.  Watch your image shift and change.  What do you see? You may at first see only swirling colors.  Have patience.  This is the beginning stages of successful visualization.  Slowly, the image will begin to crystallize and form a recognizable figure.  It may seem strange at first, like it is not at all you, but if you move your hand in front of your face, you will see the image do the same.  Realize this image is you, in the past.
