Lughnasadh or Lammas
Lammas is the first Festival of Harvest. Lammas has also been called 'loaf-mass' which is a reminder of just how important the first grain and its bread were. It's also a time of reflecting of knowledge that has been learned.
The colors of this festival are: golds, yellows and oranges for the God and red for the robes of the bountiful Mother which the Goddess wears.
On this day rituals of protection are done and homage is paid to Lugh, the Celtic god of the sun.
It is customary during this festival to make "corn dollies" and burn the old one from the past year for good luck.
The traditional foods of the Lammas Sabbat are homemade bread, barley cakes, nuts,  wild berries, apples, rice, roasted lamb, berry pies, elderberry wine, ale, and meadowsweet tea. Rabbit and meat pies and pastries. Good strong red wine is drank to honour the Goddess and the God and Cider really is the traditional drink of this festival.
