Ostara Ostara is a fertility rite celebrating the birth of Spring and the reawakening of life from earth. On this day, Witches light new fires at sunrise, rejoice, ring bells, and decorate hard-boiled eggs. Eggs are a symbol of fertility and when decorated with magickal symbols were thrown into fires or buried in the earth as offerings to the Goddess. As the land is celebrating rebirth, we do to in our personal lives by casting off old fears and worries, guilt. We look to new hopes and dreams.
The colours of this Sabbat are yellows and light greens.
The traditional foods are lamb and veal, spring vegetables, dairy dishes, hard-boiled eggs, honeycakes, and the first fruits of the season and milk punch.
