Litha
This is the summer solstice. Daylight will increase and darkness will decrease. The battle of Oak and Holly is enacted, only this time Lord Oak gives way to Lord Holly. The Summer Solstice is the traditional time when Witches harvest magickal herbs for spells and potions, for it is believed that the innate power of herbs are strongest on this day. It is the ideal time for divinations, healing rituals and the cutting of divining rods and wands. All forms of magick are extremely powerful on Summer Solstice Eve. It is believed that whatever is dreamt of on that night will come true to those who dreamt it.

The traditional colours of this festival are golden yellows and oranges and gold itself for the God while the Goddess wears red.

The traditional foods are; fresh vegetables, summer fruits, pumpernickel bread, ale, mead, fish. In modern times........ice cream.
