General Warnings and Preporation Before Spells
What most people don't realise when they begin to explore beliefs such as Witchcraft, is that its not so simple. They think, that all they have to do is say an incantation, and PUFF, their wishes come true. That's NOT the case folks! It takes a lot of patience, knowledge, discipline and determination to master the Craft.

The first thing to consider, is the Law "An it harm none, do what ye will," which runs side by side with the Threefold Law.  Witchcraft is a "white practice" if you will. Sure all the power of the world may be at your fingertips if you are really gifted, but it still doesn't leave you with the permission to hurt someone, or distroy lives. Sorry, getting up and over my head. in a nutshell, you must follow the Law "An it harm none, do what ye will," because  of a little thing called the Threefold Law, karma.

Think of karma as a mother. My mom, for example, is a sweet lady when I behave myself. Ask all of my friends-- they love her. However, if a slip out of place and do something I know I'm not suppose to do, boy can she be a real bitch! I think of karma as my Spritual Mother, if you will, my mentor. Not only will she correct me in what I do wrong in my life, but she also keep my life in check.  If I do something that benefits the others or the world, she rewards me with a wonderfull filling of self contentment. I do something I shouldn't have done, and I get hit by guilt.

The most important piece of information a have to share with you however is the follow--protect yourself. whenever you preform any act of magick, including meditation and praying, you enter a different state of consciouness. It is in this state that those "unwanted visitors" have the possibility to psychically attack us if you will. Anyway what I'm getting down to is that you can never be too protected in the world of magick. Before performing and act the alters your state of consciousness, always have incense and a candle burning, and wear a pentagram, whatever, as long as it as the ability to repel negative vibes. Most spells already have protective "devices" incorperated in them, but some prayers and meditations don't. Whatever the case is, play safe.

Ok, so we've covered protection, but what are some other ways of getting ready for a spell? Below are some preparations to keep in mind before preforming magick.

Eat healthy--Food creates energy for your body, and magick uses a lot of energy. Foods to aviods: pop, candy, fries.
Get enough sleep-- Again, a matter of energy. We recommend never performing magick when you're tired. It doesn't matter if it means preforming an esbat or sabbat a bit late, if you feel lioke you're going to fall sleep in the middle of the ritual, that's your body and the divine telling you that you shouldn't attemp it. A lot of witches might disagree with this statement, but from previous experience, we have learned not to do magick when we don't feel up to it.
Don't perform magick if you are ill--If you are ill, the only magick you should attempt to do is self healing magick. If you perform an elaborate ritual, you will be using the energy you would normally use to heal up. This means that it will take you longer to heal.
Don't be stressed-- Stress is an excellent magick-blocker. If you are stressed, meditate, or excersize until you feel whole and refreshed again.
Gather your materials a head of time-- That way, everything you need is rightway you need it.
Perform magick where  and when you won't be disturbed--Turn off those electronics etc, shut the blinds, If you live with your familly of roommate, perform your magick when you know others aren't there to bother you.
Take a ritual bath- Ritual baths are great at cleansing your aura, and awaking your psychic senses. We recommend ritual baths only before rituals and complex spells.
Make sure you know what you're getting into--Know all aspects of the spell, what it will accomplish, could it backfire etc
