My school doesn’t have a School Dress. The costume for beginners and Advance Beginners is a green skirt and white blouse. The sash is optional (like I was going to say no to it!). I made this for my first competition and still wear it in my Advance beginner dances. Material        Dark green thin satin (polyester). Pattern        Simplicity 8851. I used the skirt piece and made it a bit longer in the back so it would fall nicely over my big butt. I think also that the original pattern called for a zipper which I didn’t use. Advice        Some thin fabrics will pull threads if you use the wrong size needle (i.e. to big). In case of doubt, use a ballpoint needle
