This gown is inspired by a gown I saw in a Medieval magazine and always wished to have, but I didn’t especially like the fabrics used on the original so it gave me a motivation to make my own. Easy to make and because of the laced sides, it can be easily adjusted.
Pattern
I used McCall’s 3663 as a base but had to modify the sides to make them larger than they normally would so I could add the lacing. The sleeves are McCall’s 8937 and are laced too. Fabric
The front and the back are a dark green unknow velvety. The sleeves and the sides are a light green linen. The two color of fabric and the way the gown is made gives the illusion of wearing a cotte and surcot but it’s only one gown. It take 3 m of light green linen and 1.5 m of the dark green fabric to make this dress.
Advice
Always make something you want yourself. This way, it’ll be perfect. |
