Wichita Area Urban Fishing
12/30/00 - First Post

In the coming year, I will attempt to fish and review each of the public fishing opportunities around Wichita.

I believe that public fishing holes are an important part of a community's recreation opportunities.  I have lived all my life in a city or suburb.  I have no access to any private ponds, or private land along rivers and streams.

There are a couple of resevoirs and lakes near Wichita, but they are less convenient for me because of several reasons.  They are each a fair distance from my house, they each charge entrance fees through the parks department, and are more difficult to thoroughly fish since I do not own a boat.

Community fishing locations are an excellent, wholesome activity that anyone can enjoy.  It requires only a little money to purchase the equipment needed for this hobby.  Fishing tackle, bait, and maybe a folding chair will provide hours of entertainment.

With this web site, I hope to increase the awareness of local residents of the fun they can have fishing at what is most likely less than a 15 minute drive from their house.
