Several of us had breakfast together in the
Lodge; afterwards we decided to hike along the shoreline. After
telling Marshall, who was late to breakfast and wanted join us
later, that we would go left, Mark, Karen, Wendy, Judy, Chrissy,
Flo, Rikki Lynn and I proceeded to go right...! It was OK though
as the transcendent tranquility and empowering peace of the
setting on this beautiful sunny Ohio morning was only further
enhanced by the occasional resounding bellow of
"MARSHALL!" from Karen.... ;) Actually, I had just
finished rereading the first book, "Fellowship of the
Ring", of J. R. R. Tolkien’s "The Lord of the
Rings", and our little group and adventure had so many
parallels for me! All of us enjoyed ourselves so much, just
letting go and having fun as we skipped rocks, climbed over a
multitude of obstacles along the shoreline, climbed the steep
banks at times, staged our own "Super-Babe" contest
— CONGRATULATIONS Flo! ;) , fell on our butts multiple times,
talked, and laughed our way about a mile along the shoreline and
then back! "Laughter" was definitely the single-word
description for this GTG! :D |
|
Upon our return, we sipped a soft-drink on the balcony, then
realized service for lunch was almost over so we adjourned to
the dining room to eat. There we caught-up with Marshall, who
had not tried to follow us, Linda, Jo Ann and Mary. I had the
world’s largest turkey club sandwich, I do believe!
Afterwards, we split-up, some going for hikes, some into town,
and some for naps. |
I decided I had to
keep moving after that huge lunch. I visited
the gift shop and bought some candles--three shaped and colored
like ~4" long ears of "Indian corn" and three
shaped and colored like mini-pumpkins—in preparation for
Thanksgiving. I also purchased some "Buckeye" candies,
but to eat after I returned to IL--"Sometimes you feel like
[eating] a ‘Nut’, sometimes you don’t...!" ;) Then I
walked down to the beach area and turned left! I walked around
to a Point from which I took a picture of the Lodge from across
part of the lake. I not only feel Annie’s presence around me,
but I believe she "sees" things through my eyes as
well. So I enjoy these moments alone with her, sharing thoughts
and impressions of the wondrous things we see…. |

Next I wandered past the boat launch then along a path with a
view of some of the cabins. I continued my walk and came across
the "Chipmunk Trail" ~1/2-mile long and hiked it. I
again had many thoughts of "The Fellowship of the
Ring" — but I’m a bit rusty in my "Strider"
capabilities...! After exiting back onto the road I had been
traveling, I heard, "Hey, WidowNet!" and waited to
meet Linda, Marshall and Mary as they returned from their hike.
We walked ~1/4-mile together then Linda and Mary branched-off
towards their cabin as Marshall and I continued on towards the
Lodge. Rikki Lynn was headed our way, met us, and she and I then
walked on a long loop past many of the cabins. We had a
wonderful talk about spirituality and some of our experiences
pertaining to it. TY Rikki Lynn, it was a very special time for
me! As we returned to the lodge, we were rewarded with a
beautiful Ohio sunset across the lake and woods! |

We ate an early dinner and I feasted on deliciously seasoned
Burr Lake Broil steak with mushrooms until I was stuffed! At
least I didn’t nail Flo in her ribs with my left-elbow as I
ate! Karen provided each of us with copies of her publication,
"Hoot ‘n Holler" containing many delightful articles
and quips, TY Karen! |
Our early dining hour was so that we could attend Mr. Ron Scott’s
[right - with Karen] performance in the Chickadee Room. He is 78
y.o. and performed with
several "Big Bands" and noted performers during his
career, and is still going strong with yearly gigs from the
Midwest to FL to several Caribbean Islands! I enjoyed his
performances very much, and Karen and Chrissy had me wiping away
tears of laughter once again. I damned near literally was
ROFLMAO! :D |
