After Ron’s
performance ended around 10:30PM, we walked to the cabin Linda
and Mary had rented for a mini-bonfire in their grill since
conditions were too dry for the planned bonfire at the
amphitheatre. There we roasted hotdogs--I was too full to eat
any of them—and Smores—I’m never too full for them but
could only down two of them!! Some warm cider and cool wine went
down very nicely too. It was a clear, but chilly night so I
stayed near the fire to keep my fingers warm—damned primary
Raynauld’s Phenomena! Orion and many other spectacular stars
lighted the heavens! I had forgotten how bright they are when
viewed from a remote, darken site. And ever since I became aware
of Antoine du Saint-Exupery’s, "The Little Prince"
the stars have had so much more meaning for me. TY Mary! This
excerpt from TLP touches me so deeply; I have included it in
several of Annie’s Memorials. |

The Little Prince,
as he prepares to depart, says:
"At night,
you'll look up at the stars. It's too small, where I live,
for me to show you where my star is. It's better that
way. My star will be...one of the stars, for you. So
you'll like looking at all of them. They'll all be your
friends. And besides, I have a present for you."
"People have stars, but they aren't the same. You,
though, you'll have stars like nobody else."
"When you look up at the sky at night, since I'll be living
on one of them, since I'll be laughing on one of them, for you
it'll be as if all the stars are laughing. You'll have
stars that can laugh!" "And when you're consoled
(everyone eventually is consoled), you'll be glad you've known
me. You'll always be my friend. You'll feel like
laughing with me. And your friends will be amazed to see
you laughing while you're looking up at the sky. Then
you'll tell them, 'Yes, it's the stars; they always make me
laugh!'" |

I wore my Jamaican
cap with dreadlocks that I purchased in Jamaica during the
Cruise GTG this spring. Annie’s favorite Caribbean Island was
Jamaica. I have so many fond memories from there, both with
Annie and with my GTGers…! That cap reminds me, "No
Problems, Mon! Have fun! Don’t worry!" It was such a
night filled with fun, one to remember always! |
