Our Love Story!
Wendy was only 17 when she first saw Brian at a church rally out in an old country church. She thought he was the most gorgeous man she'd ever laid eyes upon. She was too shy to introduce herself. She didn't think she had a chance because he was older and sooooo goodlooking. He had those bedroom eyes! Why would he want someone like her?!
A month later at a rally in Wendy's hometown, Brian forgot his bible at the church and Wendy snagged the opportunity (as the "duty" of the Pastor's daughter!!) to mail it to him (along with a letter including her phone#!) That was about the boldest thing she'd ever done to get a guy's attention! He called to thank her. They talked a long while, started writing, and had their first date at church camp. They played on a Bible mini golf course. 2nd date was a canoe ride. Funny thing was neither of them were very skilled at canoeing and ended up going in circles for awhile! They didn't care. They were so happy to be together!
When Brian held her hand later that evening, she cried at the touch of first love.
Their story was not without trouble though. When Wendy went away to Bible college that Fall, they broke off the relationship due to some spiritual problems Brian was dealing with. Wendy was totally heartbroken. She prayed like never before that everything would work out.
The next Spring, Brian wrote Wendy to say that he'd been refilled with the Holy Spirit and was back on track. When Wendy went home for Spring break, you guessed it, Brian met her at another church rally! They began writing again and began seriously dating that summer. Wendy and Brian were totally besotted with each other and were together every chance they could, in spite of the 200 miles that were between them.....
For Valentine's Day in 1991 Brian got down on his knees in the snow at their special tree and asked Wendy to marry him. She said YES! and they were happily wedded July 27, 1991. The past 10 years have held some wonderful precious times as well as some stormclouds. Through every storm the Lord has kept them together and they are more in love than ever! Thank you Jesus!
