Don writes, arranges and produces all of Vanessa’s
music. He was born and raised in Long Beach, California and plays piano and guitar,
composes and arranges music, and is a recording technician. His musical background began
as a choirboy in junior high school. This endeavor continued until he graduated from
California State College in Long Beach as a music major. He was a regularly featured
composer in the music department with several recitals to his credit. During that time he
was a member of the celebrated Acapella Choir, directed by Frank Pooler. Don worked
regularly with the Carpenter’s during that period. Since graduation, Don has involved
himself in contemporary and traditional music in many venues.
After graduation, he pursued a career in rock music. His band, Clovis Putney, enjoyed great success, including first place in the Hollywood Battle of the Bands. In the second half of the ‘70s Don became involved with contemporary Christian music. He quit Clovis Putney to join the Christian music group, Jedediah, which was led by Alan Barrington who toured the Western United States and Canada for Myrr Records. During this same time Don was a member of the Celebration Singers, directed by Don Norville who authored the published praise chorus, "Let Us Love One Another." The Celebration Singers regularly recorded at Martin Sound Studios and appeared on Television weekly.
Eventually Don moved from the LA-area rock limelight to become the music minister at Calvary Chapel Bakersfield. During that period of time he produced a praise album called "Let All Who Hath Breath Praise the Lord" that was distributed by Maranatha! Records.
Later in the mid ‘80s he came to be involved with First Baptist Church of Bakersfield where he formed the singing group Selah. It was in this group that Don and Vanessa first met and together they produced the album "Stop and Think About It." Since the group broke up, both Don and Vanessa have been ministering in song in various venues, singing scriptural-based original praise songs, contemporary choruses and traditional hymns.
Vanessa was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raised in Bakersfield California. Because her father was a music minister, Vanessa began her musical career at a very young age singing duets with her sister, while participating in church vocal groups and in various school choirs. After graduating from High School, it was her intention to study art at California State College at Long Beach. However, Vanessa’s plans were changed when she was invited to sing in the popular touring band - "Sunday Afternoon." This electrifying and powerful group had a very successful road show as they played in dinner showrooms throughout the United States and Canada, Magic Mountain, Disneyland and Disney World. This rock act eventually produced several successful people in the music world including Mike Davis who is now Vice President of Entertainment at Disney.
Yet just when the group was sitting on top of the world they broke up. Now facing the real world Vanessa had to discontinue her singing career for the time being. It was her future husband who later discovered her remarkable talent. When Don first heard her voice, as she auditioned for his vocal band, he was lifted up in complete rapture and immediately promoted her singular style. Vanessa is now Vice President of Marketing for the most successful home builder in Kern County. In the mean time she, along with her husband Don, have found ample time to record the music that they love.

offering free praise music and hymns performed in a contemporary manner along with a free

pastors, music ministers and ministry training. The worship study book lends
theological and historical support to the use of traditional Christian hymn-singing in
