biographies eric mccormack who plays will truman eric mccormack was born on april 18, 1963 in toronto. he started acting in high school and continued throughout his college years at the ryerson theatre school. he is a classically trained actor and spent seven years appearing in shakespeare's plays such as 'a midsummer night's dream' and 'henry v'. he also trained with the manitoba theatre centre and toronto's royal alexandra theatre. eric started work on TV as the handsome colonel mosby in 'lonesome dove: the outlaw years', where he met his wife, the assistant director on the show. the part led to guest appearances on top shows such as 'townies', 'ally mcbeal' and 'veronica's closet'. other TV credits include leading roles in 'audrey hepburn', co-starring jennifer love hewitt, 'borrowed hearts', alongside roma downey, and 'a will of their own'. he also starred in the feature 'old hats' and 'the holy man' in 1998, co-starring eddie murphy and jeff goldblum. in 2000, eric was nominated for an emmy award as 'outstanding lead actor in a comedy series' for will & grace and in 2001 he won it! mccormack and his wife, janet holden, live in los angeles and have a second home in vancouver. debra messing who plays grace adler debra was born in brooklyn on august 15th 1968 and raised in rhode island. she graduated from brandeis university in theatre arts and later got into new york's university elite graduate acting program. she also spent some time studying in london. in 2000, she married her boyfriend of eight years, former NYU classmate, actor and screenwriter daniel zelman. they live in LA and spend as much time as possible together. her talents have been rewarded - this year alone she has received three awards and received four nominations. in january, she was named cosmo magazine's fun fearless female of the year. the nominations include the american comedy award for 'funniest female performer' in 2000 and 2001, the screen actor's guild award for best female actress and two golden globe nominations for 'best performance' and a nomination by Q for 'best actress in a comedy series.' as well as winning the screen actor's guild award for 'outstanding performance', she received the TV guide's 'actress of the year' accolade for will and grace. in 2000, debra, was nominated for an emmy award for 'outstanding lead actress in a comedy series'. her film credit include starring as a roving reporter in woody allen's 'celebrity', alongside leonardo di caprio and co-starring in 'a walk in the clouds', as keanu reeve's wife. she has also worked on stage in new york, earning praise for her performance in the play 'angels in america: perestroika'. she appeared as cecily in a seattle production of the importance of being earnest and co-starred with maria tucci in the acclaimed production of collected stories, which made it as a finalist for the pulitzer prize. on TV, debra starred in the comedy 'ned & stacey' opposite thomas haden church. she had several guest appearances on 'NYPD blue' as gail o'grady's evil sister, dana abandando, and on 'seinfeld' as jerry's perfect woman, beth lookner. other series include 'prey and jesus', in which she played mary magdalene. her latest projects include 'the mothman prophecies' opposite richard gere and she is currently involved in woody allen's latest project. bio information copyright ©1999 national broadcasting company |
