| How To Pray For Your Marriage | ||||||||||||
| I didn't write this; it was taken from a link that a friend sent me. I thought it could be particularly useful for husbands who are seeking to strengthen their marriage and to begin fulfilling their role as the spiritual head of their family. Prayer can be so powerful, especially when it is based on the promises in God's Word. We can learn from scripture how valuable our partners are, and how God calls us to relate to each other. Heavenly Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus, I pray for my wife (__________). "And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." John 14:13 She is a virtuous woman and her price is far above rubies. I, as her husband, trust in her and she in me. We will do each other good and not evil all the days of our lives. "Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life." Proverbs 31:10-12 In my prayers, I clothe her with strength and honor. When she opens up her mouth may wisdom come forth. And in her tongue may there be found the law of kindness. "Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness." Proverbs 31:25-26 As a virtuous woman, she is a crown to me her husband and I trust her with love, respect, and honor. "An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones." Proverbs 12:4 No corrupt communication shall come out of our mouths, but that which is good to the use of edifying that we may minister your grace one to another. "Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers." Ephesians 4:29 I pray that I will dwell with my wife according to knowledge and that our prayers will not be hindered. "Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered." 1 Peter 3:7 We walk together in agreement and there are no divisions among us. "Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?" Amos 3:3 As we continue to delight ourselves in the Lord, may you continue to give us the desires of our heart one for another. "Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4 I will not be bitter against my wife, nor will we hold any sin or wrong against one another. We will be kind to one another even as you God have forgiven us for Christ’s sake. "Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them." Colossians 3:19 In the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ I pray… Amen and Amen. |
