We stayed at the Best Western Inn at Teton Village. The original reservation was for one room, but that became unavailable. We ended up with two adjoining rooms and after a little complaining, got both for the same price as the original one room. The rooms were clean enough, both had lofts. We ate breakfast at the hotel and hit the road near 11 AM. Destination Yellowstone. Colter Bay Village is in Grand Teton National Park, and we got a stamp. It's on the shore of Jenny Lake. Took some pictures and headed out. The Colter, of Colter Bay is John Colter, one of the members of the Lewis and Clark expedition. He was one of the first white men to come to this part of the world and did some of the earliest explatory work in the region. |

I am unable to find any pictures/drawings of Colter, but here is a picture of his tombstone in New Haven, Missouri. I don't have much to say about Yellowstone. Photo-ops at the park entrance, Lewis Canyon and Lewis Falls. Stamp at Grant Village. Stamp at Old Faithful. It really should be called Old-semi-faithful, because it's not that regular anymore. Maybe a dose of metamucil everyday would help. We wanted to eat at the fabulous Old Faithful Inn, but at 6:30 there wasn't anything available until 9:30. We got some ice cream instead and headed out. By 8:30 we were in Jackson, found the Chili Pepper Grill for some adequate Mexican food. Back at the hotel late. |
