| ...In the Koppenhinksteeg, Leiden NL, there is a FreePlace, right in the centre of town, where people run all non-commercial, social-cultural initiatives, such as Theatre, Music, Artist's Studios, a FreeShop, Culture Club Bar en Boos, a vegan/organic restaurant, support for 'illegal immigrants', Chinese Martial Arts and a.... FREE DRUMCIRCLE ! This is a percussion jamsession, open for everybody and all percussion instruments. Every first Sunday of the month, starting at 1600 hrs. Come and join! If your instrument needs amplification, please bring your own microphone. Everybody welcome to come and play, dance or just socialise.. |

| Gezocht: Enthousiastelingen voor Oudejaars Drumcircle Matthijs, een van de vaste bezoekers van onze drumcircle, is DJ bij een oudejaarsfeest van een groep mensen die elkaar vooral van dansen (improvisatie-vijf ritmes) kent. Nu is er het idee om met de drumcircle daar een 'optredentje' te doen. Tussen aanhalingstekens, want het hoeft niet veel anders te zijn dan een normale drumcircle-jamsessie. | We sometimes start with a FREE EXCHANGE WORKSHOP prior to the drumcircle, at 1500 hrs. These workshops are led by different people every time. Many styles have passed by so far, like African, Flamenco, Chinese and Body Percussion. Maybe you also have something to bring forward in one of these workshops? That would be great! For these FREE workshops however, we do like to point out the DRUMCIRCLE DONATION BOX, so we can save up for things like instruments and workshops by renowned percussionists. |

| You don't have any instruments? Be original, be a showman and make you own! Plenty of household objects that have a great sound. Glass, metal, plastic, wood.. To get some ideas, visit the 'Percussion Making Page'. ------------------------ Some fellow drummers in San Diego US, have built up a samba school from the peace movement.
