Willowind Afghans,
our beginnings . . .
THE AFGHAN HOUNDS
Our First girls
Litter #1
Litter #2
Our story really begins with our first pets.  Sassy was a cock-a-peke-a-poo that was the cutest liver and white color.  We got her at a year old, just a few weeks after we were married.  She was our only pet for a couple of years, but as soon as we moved out of our apartment into a house, we thought she needed a friend.

OUR FIRST AFGHAN HOUND
Enter Jason, Unikorn's Taj Mah Kahn, CD
When we decided to add another dog to our family, I knew I wanted a BIG dog.  Husband's allergies were a big factor in making our selection, which we thought was going to have to be a Standard Poodle, but they just didn't really appeal to us.  An ad in the local paper for a free Afghan Hound had us getting out the 'dog book' just out of curiosity.  We didn't know what an Afghan Hound was, but as we read about them, it sounded like just the thing for us.

"Jason" had a WONDERFUL personality - friendly, happy and the perfect gentleman.  I did Obedience training with him as well as conformation classes.
We also did some lure coursing - the only dog sport my husband enjoys.
Jason loved it all.  Our boys learned to walk hanging on to his gorgeous coat.
He earned  his CD and with him I became involved in the sport of purebred dogs, joined several Kennel Clubs and started me on my life-long hobby of DOGS.
He died from a ruptured tumor on his spleen the day I brought Jazz home, he was only 7.
