Its hard to say what exactly caused this. I am sure several factors play into it, such at the Art and Literature classes I took my last couple semesters at Hiram that both delt with religion from an ulteririor perspective. Since religion had been my passion and I had recently desided to give up on my own, I seemed to enjoy looking at other peoples take on it. Another factor that no dobt added to my interest was going to see Fr. Andrew Greelley speak on the subject just before I dropped out. But I think the largest contributing factor was my growing dislike for my own world, and watching a film allowed my to live in another world, even if it was only for a couple of hours. I enjoyed disecting this new world and finding what out was all about. I was in a totally fabricated universe made up by the director, and I enjoyed looking for God there, especially since I had given up looking for God in my own world. This facination I developed did make me a pretty bad athiest. I mean most athiests do not spend there free time looking for God. (If they did I imagine they would not remain athiests to long.) But hey, this year was not the most logical brain scheme in my life. |
