RETURN TO LONESOME DOVE

There are a couple of different story lines going on in this film. Needless to say, my favorite involves ... Gideon Walker, former Texas Ranger. After leaving the Rangers, Gideon took up a new profession: ladies' dressmaking. He was pretty good at it, too. He always made sure the ladies dresses fit *just* right ... in the dressing room ... while their husbands were off, attending to man's work, elsewhere.

Gideon was doing quite well in ladies dresses.

However, Gideon had to quit the dressmaking business one day.
In a real hurry. Disgruntled husband.
With a gun.

"Hey Cap'n, he missed!!"

During his recovery, and before he can be lynched, Gideon is offered a better job by his old friend, Woodrow Call. He contemplates the job - wrangling horses.

Gideon Walker, cowboy.
Wrangling horses.
Looking out for his people.

Gideon much admires Clara Allen, who raises fine horses.
Gussied up for dinner with Clara, he promises her his love and respect.

At trail's end, hittin' the hay and contemplating life and love. ::sigh:: It just wasn't meant to be. A last kiss goodbye.
