Prisoners of the Waves

After "The Song of the Maziani" by Leslie Fish and Misty Lackey

We used to live in forests green,
For food we cropped the forest floor,
But now we live by the ocean tide,
And there’s no way to get to shore.

He chased us here in red-tinged rage,
And now we're stranded in the sea,
Our sister calls us from the shore,
But the king will never set us free.

Rise up, rise up with the ocean tide,
But always we fall short of shore,
Yet time at last will bring release,
Of that, immortal life makes sure.

The sea will wear his castle down,
No structure can resist its pull,
And once we've brought King Haggard down,
We'll only have to kill the bull.

So in the sea we'll live and dream,
Of days we'll spend on the forest floor,
And on the day the castle falls,
We never will be waves again.

"And the bull will drive them into the sea, covering their footprints behind them."
Yet another Last Unicorn filk.
