It seems to me, and I think Bella would agree, that everything has to go through phases before it can become a beautiful, wholesome creature. Kids have to go through the awkward teenage years before they can become adults, and a worm can never be a butterfly unless it goes through the cycles laid before it. And The Gathering of Witch and Fae had to go through many cycles of trial and error, before it could become what it is today. In 2001, Willow and Bella met at a metaphysical class in a local shop. The two began talking and working in Willow's garden, and decided that they would start |
a Pagan/Wiccan study group. Interest in the group quickly peaked, and Willow and Bella, along with Kandra White, worked to build the group which had, until then, been a study gathering, into a Coven. And within a month, the small gathering had escalated into a small herd, and the Coven was off the ground. Kandra White served as High Priestess in the Coven's formative days, along with Willow as High Priest, but respectively handed the wand to Priestess Bella, who now serves as our Respected High Priestess. In those days, the Coven was known as Mystic Moon. The small brethren accomplished a lot, including a Witches Ball and many celebrations. The group met with a barrier, though... the city's mayor. When the group decided they wanted to ask the city about holding a Pagan festival in the public park, they were rejected. The group was leery, but Willow battled it out, one on one with the City Council, and with the help of ACLU, got a law banning fortune telling in Hillsboro taken out of the books. Guess it goes to show you, you can fight City Hall. The gathering slowly whittled away, however, and only a few people showed up at each meeting. So Willow and Bella shut the doors of the Coven and began to rebuild it. They had given themselves three months, but they realized that a Coven needs structure and tradition, so the two worked on the Coven until they felt it had substantial basis, and opened the doors of Witch and Fae. |
Traditions, Love, and Harmony The Gathering of Witch & Fae has many facets, as does the brethren. The group consist of Wiccans, Druids, Shamans, Dragon Magicians, Faeries, and ecletic Pagans. In an effort to expand horizons, the group works within the codes and conducts of Wicca, but incorporates the magick and ritual of the other traditions creating a vast amount of possibilities. The group meets for all of the major holidays of Paganism, and also has classes, open circles, feast, and many other special events. The Coven, to the best of it's ability, works on consensus. There are set bylaws which the Brethren adhere to, and certain mundane codes that each member of the Coven should try to fulfill in daily living. The group has adopted The Witches Code of Chivalry as a document to live by, within and without the circle of Pagans which make up Witch & Fae. Honesty, Love, Harmony, and Group Mind are major concepts for Witch & Fae, and mind sets that the members try to attain. Negative lifestyles are not promoted, and are not practiced by the Clergy, and are discouraged among members. The group does not evangelize, or seek out members. Seekers must come to us and ask about the Coven, it never happens the other way around. The Coven's clergy works as counselors and mediators for the group, but never assume a role of heirarchy. The Brethren is always encouraged to take an active role in the Coven and it's doings. The Congregation, which is the group of people which have not dedicated themselves to Wicca but have chosen to follow it's path, are free to attend all open circles and rituals, and are a great part of the whole. Ecletic as it may be, Witch & Fae is a family which has grown a spiritual and emotion bond. It strengthens over time and hopefuly will continue to do so. |
