The Student Music Therapists' Association (SMTA) is a student-run organization.  It has more than ten years of existence at Western Michigan University.  SMTA is open to all undergraduate and graduate students.

Our Mission Statement:
  - to inform and educate the Western Michigan University graduate and undergraduate student body and surrounding communities of the applications, validity, and benefits of music therapy
- to provide a forum for sharing clinical experiences amongst graduate and undergraduate members
- to enhance the education of the Western Michigan University student body by providing guest speakers and presenters in fields related to the music therapy profession.
