Roberts' Shell Station, Eatery and Store
1930 in Sequim, WA.
I just could not wait to add this picture of grandma Elsie Mable (Crosby) Roberts in front of the station/store she had with grandpa
Albert "Henry" Roberts. This was a second marriage for them both
and together they had two children: Roy Albert Roberts b. 1924
and Etta May Roberts b. April 26, 1925. The family lived here 1932 to 1935
Saturday, August 10th 2002 I received an e-mail from the new owners of this little home and I was so excited and delighted that I just had to share this with you (family):

Hello!
We're Greg and Heidi Ennes and we live in Sequim WA in an old house
built in 1927 on what used to be the main highway. I had always
known your grandparents, Henry and Elsie Roberts lived here in this
house back in the early 30's from the local book "What's Down That
Road?" by Harriet Fish.  I'm sure you must know about it because
your mother is mentioned in it. (If you don't, let me know, I'll
fill you in!)  Anyway, we are in the middle of a small remodel job
right now and I tore out a closet exposing the bare wood wall after
tearing away many layers of wallpaper.  Scrawled on the wall are
the names:
HENRY, ELSIE, RALPH & ROY .  I got on the internet, typed in those
first names along with "sequim" and up popped your website! We know
this little house was used as a gas station back in those times,so
was very pleased to see that mentioned on your site as well!
Just thought you and your mother might be interested that the house
is still standing. We have lived here 5 years and love it.
We are particularly struck by the photo on Etta's homepage of Elsie
Roberts and younger children (Etta and Roy) in 1928. We think they
must be pictured in front of our house!

Thanks for taking the time to create the web page. It is so
interesting to more people than you ever could have imagined....

We'd be happy to send you any pictures. Maybe you'd like one of
the "grafitti"?

This is where we had the picture posted the first time. I wasn't sure of the year the place was built.
Before 7:00 am (8-11-02) I just had to add this picture and the wonderful surprising message from
Greg and Heidi. I will add the "grafitti" and a  picture of the first home as soon as I get them.
Thank you so much. This means a lot to our family.
*Grandma had three older children also; (from a previous marriage to George Uhrich). They were: George "Ed", Clara Belle and Ralph Uhrich.
