This picture (upper left) is of Elsie Mable (Crosby) Roberts and Alfred "Henry" Roberts in 1932 at their first Station/Store/Eatery. Behind Henry and Elsie Roberts stands the tall gravity feed pump for the gasoline, and it stood out by the road (but near the house). The upper right hand side is the home that stood next to it (this home is now owned by Greg and Heidi) and is the same home where they found the "grafitti" under layers of wall paper. The picture was taken in 1977 of the home down they lived in so long ago. In 1935 the new highway 101 opened up and the Roberts moved their station and home out to the highway. This spot is now known as "Long John's Corner" . The picure below and the page previous shows this new "Station/Store/Eatery" on hwy 101. I understand that grandma had the first "Eatery-Station-Store" in Sequim area. Please see the article on the next page by Harriet Fish. |
