He looks piteously out of place; it's hard to tell exactly what it is about him that is so un-handsome, but when taken as a whole he looks mildly pathetic and definitely awkward. Gangly, roman-nosed and a dirty-looking white pelt with an overlay of wire-textured silver hairs, he is nothing to look at...but there is a quiet gentleness in his pale yellow eyes, and the beginnings of a shy smile tug at his lips. Head down and tail tucked between his hind legs, he edges away with quiet shame on his features. He knows very little about his life...but what he does know, teaches him that he doesn't have the right to look you in the eye. Expecting mocking laughter, he scuttles away into the shadows.

::Quotes, Lyrics, and Personality::

Name: Larson
Name meaning: None
Age: Late-childhood
Color: White
Markings: White pelt with an overlay in some places of wiry silver hair; off-kilter stature with a roman nose, too-large and one-floppy ears, and overall gangly appearance
Eye colour: Pale greenish yellow
Physical abilities: Nothing in particular; awkward mannerisms
Mental abilities: Average
Personality: Quiet and thoughtful, with a resigned understanding that he is not, and never will be, anything special. Not particularly playful, nor moody, Larson can seem a bit dull, if only because he knows that nothing he says will be viewed as interesting--so he never bothers to try. This makes him something of an enigma.

[Family]

:Solaires:
Larson's birth father, although he learned this late in life; their relationship formed too late to really become a relationship, and there is only a sort of awkwardness between them that, as Larson ages, becomes more and more like soft loathing and jealousy. Solaires is everything Larson will never be, and they are both very aware of it.

:Deolaya:
His mother, whom he also never really came to know. His relationship toward her is more of a melancholy sort of apathy; she never made much attempt to get to know him, even after Solaires came clean about what happened, and Larson reciprocated the indifference. It's not that he hates her, just...she's not his mother, except in the strictest sense.

:Xiarnia:
The pack's young, boisterous healer took in the abandoned pup when he was only a few hours old; she raised him as her own, showered him in affection...and somehow, even then she didn't seem like a mother to him. Perhaps it was her youth, or her personality, or just some unknown factor; whatever it was, Larson never quite felt at home with her either, and never quite loved her, although he is grateful for everything that she has done for him.

:Soladrea:
Larson's sister, whom he also did not meet until he was older; she has psychic powers of empathy, and has dutifully latched onto him, apparently determined to forge a bond between them. He doesn't mind this, although he's utterly confused by it.

[Friends]
:Luna:
The only friend Larson can lay a claim to, and he's still not totally sure how he feels about her. Her personality reminds him a bit of Xia's, and she is constantly bubbly and looking for a playmate--which could, indeed, be why Larson has ever talked to her, because she's never given up easily.

[Childhood]
His was an accidental conception, and his parents panicked; after staying by her side for the duration of the pregnancy, Solaires offered to take the pups from Deolaya and drown them. She had a last-minute change of heart, spurred on by sympathy, and told him to take one pup, she would take the other. Solaires, unable to fathom caring for a child, abandoned the little white bundle on a well-tread path and left, never expecting to see either pup nor Laya again.

As things often do, none of this worked according to plan. Larson was found and adopted by the healer of Solaires's own pack, and Solaires eventually found his way back to Laya, unable to be away from her. Their own drama unfolded, unknown to their children; Larson, tucked away and coddled by youthful Xia, knew little of the outside world, and his sister, unbeknownst to him, was getting a crash-course in the abnormal from her uncle, not so far away. Neither fared terribly well with this diet of uncertainty and chaos.

In Larson's mid-childhood, he finally pulled away from his adoptive family; it wasn't hard, as Xiarnia was away with travel quite often. He began to brood. He became withdrawn and observant, not quite mopey, but realistic; he was nothing special, nothing to look at, no particular skills to mention. He had no real purpose in the pack or the world, and he was unsure what to do with himself. He had one friend, to speak of, Luna's Charm, a slightly younger pup of exuberant energy, but even she couldn't pull him from the beginnings of his downward spiral of self-loathing...
