Wings of Love

". . . those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk an not be faint." Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Wings of Love is a northeast Oklahoma Southern Gospel Trio from the Miami area that exists to spread God’s Word in song. The Lord brought together this talented group in July, 1994. Since then He has allowed them to minister in many locations in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri.

Charlotte Lawson Carder, a Miami native, graduated from Miami High School and NEO A & M., Miami, Oklahoma

She has an Associates Degree in Business and has worked for the Gayle Edmondson Accounting Firm since 1975. She is also organist for the North Miami Assembly of God. Charlotte grew up attending southern gospel concerts but states she never dreamed she would be on stage as well. Now she sings alto or lead and states, "I feel the most peace when I am singing for the Lord. No matter what has gone on in my day or week, it all disappears when I start singing to Him."

Dean Carder married Charlotte in 1973. They have two children and four grandchildren. Dean was born in Welch, Oklahoma and grew up on a farm near there. He is a graduate of Welch High School and has an AA degree in Vocal Music from NEO A&M College, Miami, Oklahoma. He studied music and science at NSU in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and then pursued Medical Technology at NEO and Missouri Southern State College, Joplin, Missouri. He became a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic and is now a Laboratory Technologist for Miami Physician’s Clinic. The son of a Baptist preacher, Dean isn’t surprised by his love of Southern Gospel music. "Dad pastored small country churches all my life, so church music came naturally from church services and from listening as Mom sang the old hymns while doing housework," says Dean. Dean sings lead or bass for the group and is also an accomplished songwriter with two albums released.

Jerry Bridgewater was born in Wainwright, Oklahoma. His father’s job with the railroad moved the family to Miami when Jerry (one of ten children) was five. A musical family, they spent many evenings harmonizing on the front porch. Jerry enlisted in the Air Force in 1953 at the end of the Korean War. He served four years (two in Japan) and then returned to Miami where he attended NEO A&M. He worked as a carpenter and brick mason, but he always had a singing job at night. In the late ‘60’s he graduated from radio school in Dallas, Texas, and worked as a DJ for many years in the Miami area. In 1980 Jerry was saved and eventually gave his talent to the Lord. "This is my way of sharing God’s love with others," says Jerry. "Just seeing smiles or tears on listeners' faces keeps us going!" Jerry sings tenor, lead, and bass.

Jerry’s wife, Pat assists with sound production for the group.

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song I will praise Him. Psalm 28:7 (NKJV)
