Westfield Saints Squad
Currently in a fight with Sarah Midwinter for the clubs slowest bowler, Champ has the ability to move the ball both ways and is by far the clubs most economical bowler. It's not uncommon for Paul to be seen bowling long spells on a Saturday afternoon from one end as seen at Horley this season. Champ is currently the midweek captain and vice skipper to Gavin Ward.
Youthful looking John is a long serving member of the Westfield Saints setup. JP had a average season by his standards last year but is usually found at the top of the batting averages. John balances the batting lineup by having the ability to make big scores quietly as seen at Hampton Wick Royals last season. John is also a good fielder and is known for having velcro-like hands.

Mike Bailey is the leader of the "Westfield dolphins" (as Minto & Pembrooke call it). Mike has to persevere all season with squad troubles but yet finds an 11 for an entertaining days cricket. With an interesting blend of youth & experiance in the second team Mike will be looking for that winning formulae in 2006 to take the saints into division 1.

Steve otherwise known as golden arm has come off a fantastic season for the 1st team taking 31 wickets. His best performance was against Stoke D'Abernon where he collected a mind boggling 5-8 off 10 overs. Steve developed a waddle during university which has earnt him the nickname penguin. McCrum is also the current Sunday 1st captain who had a very sucsessful season.
Before i go on i must tell you the picture of Gavin is infact lifesize and hasn't been scaled down in anyway shape or form.Wardy has been the captain of the Saints for the past 3 seasons. Gavin plays an important role in the side with a middle order batting spot as well as being the opening bowler. At times Gav has been called upon to carry the workload in both departments with notable performances at Merrow (82*) and 5-41 against high flying Worplesdon & Burpham. Gavin has high expectations of the side and will be pushing for a promotion spot next season
Ian Minton: Minto, the best left hander in the club, is comfortably the rudest man in England. His ability to get under batsmen's skin makes up for what he lacks in runs and wickets. A joke for every occaision, he is a vital component of a night in the Sovs. The club is currently undertaking a task to find some clothes for him to wear to replace his
skimpy baige shorts, last modelled at a Surrey match in Guildford.
.
Tom Woods, otherwise known as Pudna to the Saints is by far the loudest and indeed heaviest member of the Saints lineup. Pudna spent this season in the second team as a wicket keeper batsmen. Pudna carries the heaviest bat ever made and uses its weight to full effect with his golf tee like drives. Pudna showed Claygate his power when he finished a fine innings off with 4 sixes in a row to win the game. Pudna enjoys a glass of cider or two after the game and can normally be found in O'neills on a Saturday night.
Sarah Midwinter is the most technically correct Saints player in the side. A level 2 coach and the Oval shop manager she can supply us with endless amounts of equipment and clothing throughout the season. Sarah employs the simple strategy "you miss i hit" when she bowls and normally comes out of a game with wickets. She has represented Surrey at senior level and the saints will be hoping she can use her expertise to create the next generation of Saints cricketers (Tom Saunders)
Doug was the only consistant Saints batsmen in 2005 scoring over 400 runs in double quick time. Bok as he's commonly known as is capable of racking up 50+ runs in no time at all as he demonstrated at Hamtpon Wick Royals where he blasted 56 runs off only 27 deliveries. Not only is he the Saints leading batsmen he is the Saints wicket keeper after he snatched the gloves off long term keeper Alan Chaplin creating heated family tension.

Not only is Bok a batsmen and wicket keeper he infact bowls a bit as he demonstrated at Byfleet where he took 6-16 in a Sunday friendly game.

Probably the oldest looking 23 year old in the world Bok is normally found downing numerous pints at the soverigns.
Alan Champlin, compulsive liar, dog lover and all round trouble maker is a long time servant to the Saints lineup. An aesthetically pleasing batsmen Sloath has a number of shots in his armoury to please the purists in Westfield. Sloath used to be the 1st team keeper before Doug Newton snatched the gloves off him causing major unrest in the chaplin household, since this incident Sloath has given up his cricket coffin and instead uses a retro leather addidas bag in protest.
James Pembrooke has one shot, the 500 yard tee shot onto the 18th. Many a ball has been lost when James has connected.. but many wickets have been lost when he hasn't. James has been quoted as saying "i dont like running"  and "i dont like the forward defensive shot". One of the biggest men in the club James is normally the first in the Soverign pub and one of the last to leave. As well as being the biggest man he's also the best well groomed on the scene proving once and for all the Saints are an ugly bunch and aren't particulary bothered.
Gary Smith, more commonly known as Smudger. Smudger has had an up and down season this year, the ups coming when Gavin Ward was away posing for photographs at Weddings and the downs when he accidently punched his own desk breaking a knuckle in his bowling hand.idiot. Gary was frustrated this season by watching balls go past the bat while McCrum bowls a leg side full toss and takes a wicket. Smudger, in controversial circumstances won the unofficial golf day tournament on stroke index.
Liam hails from New Zealand where he played representative cricket for his region Mid Canterbury where he won the prestigous Hawke Cup. Currently on a 2 year work visa Liam will be able to play for the saints under a normal player. Liam like most red blooded males from New Zealand have a strange beastiality complex which as startled the more traditional Westfield members. Liam is adament however that his velcro gloves are in fact for batting and not for hunting.
New Signing for the 2006 season. Alain decided to thank Ottershaw CC for his club bowling award by flicking the vees and buggering off to us. Ha. Taking over the mantle of club lightwieight from Tom Saunders Alain will be mostly found on the floor of the Soverign pub. On the cricket side of things Alain will give the club much needed depth in the bowling department and not so much depth in the batting department. Alain played for the Saints sunday side in 05 where he lost us the game by being hit for 6 by Byfleets number 11 batsmen.
Matt Lock, aka Matt Cock, Little Bear and Little Village is a steady opening
batsman who enjoyed a promising first season for the Saints. As shown by his
stirling work on the Saints website, young Matthew is always looking to get
involved with the team. This occasionally lets him down at times, with his
constant badgering of captains leading to him not being given a bowl! Matt
is often seen trying to inject some culture, amongst other things, into
overseas players before luring them back his house. A handy batsman who is
also capable of showing the Saints the way to Amarillo with the ball, a big
future looms for the fuzzy faced youngster.
Paul kelly, more commonly known as PK (Genius) is a hard hitting bat who was in torm form with the bat at the back end of last season. His best performance coming at Horley where he smashed 52 runs off only 62 balls. As well as being good with the bat PK bowls aggressive left arm pace giving the Saints another weapon in an already impressive bowling attack. Pk has also the title as best / worst dresser in the club - this title won by a certain shirt which comes out to town with him on certain occasions. The Saints will be hoping the "new" PK can perform on the pitch - but leave his shirts at home.
Paul Norris: Fortunately for Noz, his love for cricket far outweighs his
want for washing, as his nicknames of Smelly Man, Stinkster and Oscar
the Grouch suggest. A passionate off break bowler and capable batsman,
Noz has the ability to turn a game on it's head in one over. Noz has
captained both the 2nd XI and the Sunday team, on top of the work he has
done arranging friendlies... against Indian tourists. Woe betides anyone
who drops a catch off his bowling... one of the campest stares in
cricket will come your way!
Another far away Saint. Living in Brighton has limited the amount of games Dave can play in over the past few years but he's usually seen on more the social side of things. A part time male escort by trade David and the Saints are hoping he can make it more games this season.
A massive signing for the Saints, Darlington Matambanadzo has played international cricket for Zimbabwe, Mashonaland and more recently Manicaland. Darlington has scored over 643 runs at first class level and taken 34 wickets with his fast bowling. As well as being a talented cricketer Darlington is a highly qualified coach and the Saints will be looking for him to use his experiance to groom the next generation of Saints. Being one of the most impressive signings in the Fullers league Darlington will aid the Saints hopes of a championship winning season.
