Website Maintenance

To keep users coming back to your website you need to make sure that everything on your website is current and functioning. If users run into problems with your site they probably won't come back to it. Here are my top three suggestions for maintaining your website.

  • Update Web Pages
A webmaster must continually update pages. When users turn to the web for information they do not want to run into pages that are five years old, or pages that are no longer useful.  Keep pages current with new announcements and information.

  • Archive Old Information
A webmaster must archive old information that may be referenced in case users want to refer back to that  information. Archiving is one way to post new information without completely getting rid of old information. Old and new information are best kept separate.

  • Fix Broken Links
A webmaster must make sure to keep all site links properly working. If broken links exist on a page users get frustrated because they cannot get to the information that they are seeking. Maintaining links also expands the capabilities of websites, so it is essential that they are working. For information on how to fix broken links check out my fixing broken links page.
