My family and I moved to Wenonah on South Princeton Ave. when I was just three years old. One of my very first memories of life was of my father and I walking down the old boathouse steps, and following the trail to the old teahouse.  At the time, the teahouse was still in decent shape, you could walk along it's floordeck, and play all around it.  A fallen tree crossed the stream nearby, and it was used to reach the teahouse.  It was like a perfect bridge right to the structure.  It has since rotted away.

Langston's lake was always another favorite of mine.  Almost every summer day I'd walk down to it with a bucket in one hand, and a jar in the other.  By dipping the bucket into the lake and pouring the contents along the side of the lake, I'd could catch tadpoles, baby fish, frogs, and sometimes even turtles.  It was the animals in the lake that fascinated me.  I instantly fell in love with the world of amphibians and reptiles.  That is one of the great things about the Wenonah Woods, there's at least a few type of every water animal.  I'd catch bullfrogs, painter turtles, boxer turtles, salamanders, garter snakes, and others.  Me and my childhood friend Justin Kenyon proclaimed ourselves "The Best Frog Catchers of Wenonah".  We even had our technique down:  1.) Inch up to the frog slowly.  2.)Stay still so he got used to you being there. 3.)Then flash! Reach out and grab him gently around the waist.   No problem.

Back at my house it was like a zoo.  Aquariums aplenty.  For a time, I even turned a pool we let go into a makeshift pond.  My mother surely enjoyed every minute of it...

Once I discovered the trails back in the Langston Woods I was there all the time, always taking one of my dog's with me.

I recently graduated from Gloucester County College with a degree in Computer Graphic Design.  As one of my first projects I thought, " what could be better than a website about one of  my favorite childhood memories, The Wenonah Woods."  I hope you enjoy the site, and please e-mail me with any corrections or suggestions.  I've based alot of the site on what I've picked up over the years, so if I've been misinformed about something, please correct me.  Enjoy!   -Randy Solem
