Become a
Fiber Angel

What's a Fiber Angel?

Here's how it will work:

First, I am asking knitters and crocheters to help in two ways. One: send me their "scraps". By scraps I mean yarn that is in your stash which you cannot use for one reason or another. Or maybe you just don't like the color. Usually, this is maybe a skein or two that is leftover from a project but is not enough to start another. Two: crochet strips and send them in to be assembled into afghans.

All of the scrap/stash yarn will be turned into scrap afghans.

I designed this pattern when I needed to get rid of eight bins of scrap stash. My daughter had been asking for an afghan so I used the leftovers to make this quilted afghan. Each afghan is made from 12 strips using a size P crochet hook and a ribbed pattern. The strips are sewn together, six on each side, to form a double-thickness, quilted and reversable afghan. Each afghan is "signed" with an embroidered heart in the corner.

My daughter loves her afghan and keeps it on her bed. This got me thinking, also since I still had more leftover yarn, that other children might like these afghans, too. My goal is to make a minimum of 100 afghans and give the completed afghans to children in hospitals.

I will keep a photo journal on this site of all the afghans we make.

If you would like to help, please send me an e-mail. Let me know if you have stash to donate or would like to crochet strips or both. Please include your name and address. Thank you everyone.
