Hulk Hogan

After finishing with Luger, Hogan focused his attention on Ric Flair, who he beat in a decent Strap Match at Uncensored (which, unsurprisingly, was greeted with more indifference from the critics), and looked set to challenge Sid Vicious for the WCW title. That is, until Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo returned and launched a "new" WCW. The new leaders promised that WCW's "New Blood" would get the push that they deserved. The question was: Where would this leave Hulk Hogan?

Many people thought that he wouldn't go through with it, but he did. Eric Bischoff worked with Vince Russo and pushed younger talent in favour of guys like Hogan, Flair, and Luger (well, for two months, anyway). Bischoff and Russo pitted "The Millionaire's Club" (older guys) against "The New Blood" (younger guys). Battle lines were drawn up, new feuds were created.

An example of a fresh feud was one between Hogan and Billy Kidman, although there had been some real heat between them in real life, with Kidman moaning about his push and Hogan saying on a radio show that Kidman couldn't headline a flea-market wrestling show. Though Kidman looked out of his depth at times, the feud was entertaining, and gave Hogan a new persona. Granted, it was a blatent Steve Austin rip-off, but at least Hogan's critics could now say that he was moving with the times.
