My Poetry Continued

On Drinking

I sit here quietly
and drink my beer
maybe I wonder
just why I'm here
I don't wonder
why I drink
I simply wonder
why I think

Our First Christmas

Looking out the window
at the freshly fallen snow
Sitting together, holding hands
listening to the cold winds blow.
Snuggled up so warm and cozy
looking at our tree
It seems like there is no one else
Only you and me.

On Fishing

Bobbers floating on lakes and ponds
fish meandering past the bait
the patient fisherman on the shore
simply sits and waits
The anxious fisherman pulls his line in
to see if his bait's still there
then he begins to wonder
Are there really fish out there?
Again, the line is cast out
the hungry fish invited
the hook, bait and fish
are suddenly united
the fisherman pulls a might pull
the fish pulls the other way
the line snap, the fish is free
to live another day

Friendship

It must be nice to have a friend
I wish I really knew
you know, if I had a friend
I wish she'd be like you
Just a person who'd want to be
with me most of the time
to sit and talk or take a walk
and read my thoughts that rhyme

Generation Gap

Do people know what they think?
Or how they feel? Or even more
Do people care about their boys at war?

Did you know that older people say
'When our time came, we went to war,
Young people just don't care anymore.'

The generation gap is all you hear about
They say, 'we just don't understand young people today'
But years ago, isn't that what their parents did say?

Are we really fighting for world peace?
Are young people really dying for us
Or just someone's war hungry lust?

So young and old live and die
They go through and play life's game
Isn't every generation basically the same?

And God Said.....

And God said
"Let there be light"
and it was so
He placed us in the world we know
Happy forever
shall I be
He made you
fall in love with me

God's Gift

I'm sitting here in God's world
he is sitting here with me
He's made so many miracles
As you can plainly see
He's made the chirping of the bird
and the buzzing of the bee
he made a thing called love
that finally we can see
He made a flower and the grass
he also made a leafy tree
but most of all he made you
fall in love with me

Good-bye

Every time I say yes
you say the answer's no
but when I disagree
You say it could be so.
If I say we should go out
you want to stay at home
Even if I prepare you a steak
You say you perfer the bone
What's the use in pleasing you
I know it can't be done
At night, I say there's the moon
You say that it's the sun
If I said I love you
You'd say it's really hate
And even when we had a date
You always made me wait
Well, here's a simple statement
I know you can't deny
When you hear the slamming door
You'll know I've said good-bye.
