All the wines would cease to bubble,
if they knew how effervescent you are
If a Rolls could glance at you
it would feel as a mere common car.
To capture into words at all
What God so beautifully created,
would be as to wish one happiness,
and wish it extremely belated
If only all the world could know
and feel, and finally see as me
wars and fighting would prevail
simply of jealousy
God in all of his glory and splendor
has created love and beauty in this spot
he has sent to me on the wings of life
the woman I love, the woman I've got
Though only one he has created
to me he presents this treasure
A woman who has love, understanding and warmth
whose greatness is beyond measure
I suppose I wrote this rhyme
simply because it is true
and then again, it's because
I am in love with you
Gramps
There was a man I once knew
I used to call him Gramps
he would ride me on he back
and we'd bump into lamps
he taught me everything I know
all about the sports
every now and then
he helped me build my forts
he taught me how to play
a simple game called chess
he always wanted me to win
and wouldn't settle for less
he always seemed to be there
when I made a wish
he taught me how to bait a hook
and how to catch a fish
Then, he went away
he was only sixty-seven
Yeah, he died
but, I know, he went straight to heaven
you know, sometimes
I can hear his voice
I often think
I wish I had a choice
maybe you can't understand
but could I wish upon a star
did you know Gramps
I would be where you are.
Habits
I have some habits which I must stop
Cigarette smoking ranks at the top
and maybe too poetic rhyme
which seems to dominate my time
Eating chocolate may I explain
is another which I must tame
I must refuse the chocolate please
cause it seems to make me sneeze
I must give swearing up as well
or I'll be damned and go to hell
which really is all right with me
cause that's where all my friends will be
But really, I must cut out smoking
cause lately I have been choking
so with your drink sit back and sup
right now I gotta light one up
